# Hall Attorneys Files Class Action Against Quest Diagnostics Over Patient Data Breach Canonical: https://hallattorneys.com/news/quest-diagnostics-class-action PDF: https://hallattorneys.com/PR/HA_Quest_Press_Release_102326.pdf Date: October 23, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New Jersey lawsuit alleges failures to protect confidential patient records and seeks compensation for affected patients nationwide EDNA, Texas - October 23, 2026 - Hall Attorneys, P.C., together with Federman & Sherwood and Milberg, PLLC, has filed a proposed nationwide class action against Quest Diagnostics Incorporated following the company's disclosure of unauthorized access to patient records in its Quanum Lab Services Manager system. The action, Giga Romero v. Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, Case No. 2:26-cv-13837, was filed on October 23, 2026, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The plaintiff is represented by Nicholas Hall, William B. Federman, Jessica A. Wilkes, and Mark K. Svensson. Quest reported that it learned of unauthorized access on October 21, 2026, and disclosed the incident the following day. Quanum Lab Services Manager is used by certain healthcare clients to submit laboratory orders and access results. Quest stated that it believed an unauthorized party had accessed certain patient records. Quest has acknowledged that patient health or identifying information was involved and suspended access to Quanum while investigating. In its October 23 update, Quest said it was still identifying the affected patients and information. The company has not publicly identified the number of affected patients or the full set of affected data fields in those disclosures. The complaint alleges that Quest failed to implement and maintain reasonable safeguards to protect confidential patient records. It identifies access controls, verification of authorized users, review of system activity, and vulnerability management as important protections. The lawsuit seeks to establish which safeguards failed through Quest's technical records and forensic investigation. Romero, a Colorado resident, received laboratory testing from Quest repeatedly during 2026. She alleges that she used the separate MyQuest patient portal to review her records, could not log in on October 22, and spent more than three hours responding to the incident and attempting to reconstruct her testing history. "Patients give Quest sensitive medical information to obtain healthcare, with the expectation that it will remain confidential," said Nicholas Hall of Hall Attorneys. "Our lawsuit seeks compensation for patients whose privacy was compromised and answers about how unauthorized access occurred. We intend to examine the safeguards Quest actually maintained and whether it did enough to protect the records entrusted to it." The complaint asserts claims for negligence, negligence per se under Colorado law, and breach of implied-in-fact contract. It seeks damages and other available relief on behalf of a proposed nationwide class of people whose personal or protected health information was accessed in the incident, with an alternative Colorado subclass. The plaintiff has requested a jury trial. ## Quest Patients May Request a Free Case Evaluation Hall Attorneys is speaking with individuals who believe their personal or medical information may have been affected by the Quest incident.
