Data breach investigation
Binance Hack Investigation
Binance.com · Unconfirmed October 29, 2026 report
Hall Attorneys is investigating an October 29, 2026 report of a possible hack involving Binance.com. Our inquiry includes people who deposited funds while reports of suspicious wallet outflows were unfolding, as well as users with unauthorized activity or losses. The report remains unconfirmed; Hall Attorneys has not established that any particular user’s funds or information were affected.
What has been reported?
An October 29, 2026 post by The Kobeissi Letter reports that CZ said Binance appeared to have been hacked. The post also attributes to him an expectation that user funds would be fully covered.
The post quotes CZ as saying he no longer manages Binance.com and is speaking as a shareholder. That reported expectation is not an incident disclosure or reimbursement commitment from Binance’s current management.
Cointelegraph reported on October 29 that a Binance spokesperson said the exchange was investigating reports of a potential security issue but had not confirmed an impact on user funds. That reported response does not establish the cause, full scope, or treatment of any particular deposit.
The post’s date is a reporting date, not a confirmed date of unauthorized access or theft. Hall Attorneys has not independently authenticated the underlying CZ statement or verified the reported hack, individual losses, or the complete affected group.
Did you deposit during the reported incident window?
Hall Attorneys is seeking information from people who deposited funds into Binance.com on October 29, 2026 while reports of the possible hack were emerging, and during any later period that evidence connects to the reported wallet issue. We have not established the exact start or end of any affected deposit window.
An October 29 post by tD (@tD_0101) alleges that deposit wallets continued forwarding funds to a hot wallet while that wallet was being drained. We are investigating that allegation; we have not independently verified the routing claim or traced a particular customer’s deposit through an affected wallet.
Please contact us whether your deposit was credited, remained pending, was not credited, was later transferred, or became unavailable for withdrawal. You do not need a formal notice, a missing account balance, or a known financial loss to request a review of a deposit made during the period under investigation.
We are reviewing when deposits were accepted, credited, or moved; what warnings or restrictions applied; and how customers’ funds were handled. Depositing during this period does not, by itself, establish that funds were stolen, that you suffered a loss, or that you have a legal claim.
What remains unknown?
The material reviewed does not establish the affected systems, method of access, incident dates, assets or amounts involved, number of affected users, or whether personal information was accessed or disclosed. It also does not establish whether the report concerns exchange infrastructure, individual accounts, a service provider, or another issue.
We are investigating reports of unauthorized account access, withdrawals or transfers, changed security settings, exposure of account or identity information, and documented response costs. These are issues under investigation, not confirmed consequences of the reported incident.
The post refers to Binance.com. It does not establish an incident involving Binance.US, BNB Chain, or every service or wallet using the Binance name. Reports about earlier hacks, unrelated platforms, market volatility, or routine maintenance should not be treated as evidence of this particular claim.
What does the statement about covering funds mean?
The post reports CZ’s expectation that user funds would be covered. It does not establish eligibility, covered assets or losses, a payment amount, a reimbursement procedure, or a payment date. Hall Attorneys has not verified that any reimbursement program for this reported incident has been announced or completed.
If you received a notice, support response, payment offer, denial, or reimbursement, preserve the communication and any terms or release associated with it. We are reviewing amounts claimed and paid, outstanding balances, transaction costs, and other documented consequences.
You may request a review whether you are waiting for a response or have already received a payment. A payment does not automatically establish or eliminate a legal claim; the facts, applicable terms and law, and any agreement require individual evaluation. No reimbursement or legal recovery is guaranteed.
Who should contact Hall Attorneys?
We would like to hear from Binance users and others with records suggesting a connection to the reported incident, particularly those who:
- Deposited funds during the reported October 29 incident or a continuing related disruption, including if the deposit credited successfully or you have not yet identified a loss.
- Received a security notice, unusual-login alert, or communication identifying an incident involving their Binance account or information.
- Observed an unexpected withdrawal, transfer, trade, API activity, or change to their account’s security settings.
- Reported suspected unauthorized activity to support, received a reimbursement decision, or incurred documented losses or response expenses.
You do not need a formal breach notice to request a review. Using Binance, experiencing an account restriction, or losing money on a trade does not establish that you were affected by a hack. Suspicious activity alone does not establish a connection to this report.
What should you preserve?
Keep existing security notices, login alerts, account and transaction histories, withdrawal records, saved images, support tickets, and reimbursement communications. Preserve transaction hashes or block-explorer links already available to you, relevant dates and time zones, assets and amounts, and records of any payments or expenses.
For deposits, preserve the transfer receipt, exact time and time zone, asset, network, amount, sending platform or wallet, destination deposit address, and any memo or tag used. Keep the transaction hash, network confirmations, Binance deposit history, crediting notices, balance records, withdrawal attempts, and any warnings or restrictions displayed when you deposited. Record whether and when the funds became available.
Do not reconnect a wallet, approve a transaction, or reproduce suspicious activity to document your concern. Start with records already in your possession and a description of what happened.
Do not send passwords, seed phrases, recovery phrases, private keys, API secrets, authentication backup keys, verification codes, login links, identity documents, or complete account details in an initial inquiry.
Binance’s security guidance warns that support impersonators may seek sensitive information or transfers. Use independently verified official support channels for account-security questions. Binance Verify can help check whether a website, email address, or social handle represents Binance; it is not confirmation that a refund request or transaction is legitimate.
